Jazz in the Parlour continues on April 24th, at 7pm!

Experience an intimate evening of live jazz in Roedde House’s Victorian parlour! We are pleased to welcome Arvind Ramdas on drums accompanied by Noah Franche-Nolan on the piano. This powerful duo promises an unforgettable musical experience. With influences deeply rooted in the bebop tradition, Arvind and Noah will bring an exciting, hard-hitting, and – most importantly – swinging repertoire to the stage.

The concert will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 30-minute intermission during which tea and cookies will be available.

Artist Bios

Arvind Ramdas is a dynamic jazz drummer based in Vancouver, known for being one of the city’s busiest and most sought-after percussionists. Over the past five years, Arvind has honed his craft alongside some of Canada’s top jazz musicians, including Brad Turner, Sharon Minemoto, John Gross, Cory Weeds, Steve Holy, Steve Kaldestad, and Jillian Lebeck to name a few.

Noah Franche-Nolan is a Canadian pianist, improviser, composer, and arranger based in Vancouver BC.

He leads the Noah Franche-Nolan Trio, with Juno-Nominated Jodi Proznick on bass and Nicholas Bracewell on drums. This band is releasing its debut album on the Cellar Live Record Label on Sept 15, 2023. This band also forms the rhythm section for Indo Jazz Fusion group Raagaverse, led by Shruti Ramani. In addition to being a performer and bandleader, Franche-Nolan is an active composer, having most recently composed the score to NYC film maker Talha Jalal’s documentary “Rite of Passage” and the music for Vancouver-based playwright Shelby Saitterthwaite’s play Light Rapid Transit. He has also recently released two electro-acoustic records on Infidels label in collaboration with Dutch composer/violist Oene van Geel and Canadian composer/guitarist Dan Pitt, titled “Portraits from the Interior World Vol I and II”. 

Noah is on Faculty at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s School of Music in the Jazz Department and the Classical Theory and Composition Department.
